Overview

Before the program Students receive a short pre-read on carbon markets and climate economics, so Session 1 starts with the basics already in place. Week 1 - Foundations Session 1 | Thursday, Dec 24: Introduction Program kickoff and orientation. Overview of the carbon credit landscape, why it matters, and what students will accomplish over the two weeks. Introduction to expectations, assignment structure, and how the expert-led sessions will build understanding of carbon markets and climate economics. Session 2 | Friday, Dec 25: Climate Change, Effects and Sustainable Mitigation An introduction to climate change, greenhouse gases, and global warming, along with their effects on ecosystems and communities. The session covers sustainable mitigation strategies, global climate goals, and how governments, institutions, and companies respond through climate policy and sustainability frameworks. Session 3 | Saturday, Dec 26: Introduction to Carbon Credits and Estimation Techniques of Carbon Sequestration A focused overview of carbon credits, including how they are created, verified, regulated, and used to offset emissions. Students learn the science and methodology behind carbon sequestration estimation, understanding how carbon capture is measured, validated, and converted into tradeable credits. Week 2 - Markets and Application Session 4 | Saturday, Jan 2: Carbon Markets, Future Prospects, and Project Work An expert-led session on how carbon credit markets work, including pricing, trading, and real market examples. Explores future prospects in the field, including emerging opportunities and industry trends. Students work on their carbon project, evaluating emissions impact and pricing decisions. Project submission deadline: Jan 7 After the program Students complete their project documentation, submit for publishing, and receive their certificate with a unique credential id. They walk away with a grounded understanding of how carbon markets work and what it takes to build credible carbon trading systems.
