How it started
The idea for Futurowise did not start in a classroom. It started with reading a stack of scholarship applications.
For over a decade, our founder Devesh Lathi ran The Next Genius Scholarship Program, reviewing hundreds of applications from bright, ambitious students competing for scholarships. Every year, the pattern was the same. The students who stood out were rarely the ones with the highest grades. They were the ones who had built something, researched something, or taught themselves a skill nobody asked them to learn.
A student who had run her own small analytics project. A student who had taught himself the basics of investing with his pocket money. A student who had figured out, entirely on his own, how a technology worked well enough to explain it to a room of adults.
None of that came from a syllabus. It came from curiosity that had nowhere official to go.
That observation became the reason Futurowise exists.
A different kind of classroom
Schools are excellent at many things. They are not built to teach the skills that actually separate one bright student from another once the grades start to look the same on paper. Data literacy. Financial thinking. Communication under pressure. The ability to work with tools that did not exist five years ago.
Futurowise was built to close that gap. We run live, cohort-based programs for students aged 14 to 20 across India, in Data Science, Foundations of Finance and Investing, Carbon Credit Trading, Agentic AI, Prompt Engineering, and Public Speaking. Every program is designed around the same insight Devesh saw again and again in those scholarship applications. Students do not need more information. They need the chance to build, question, and practice skills that will actually matter in the world they are walking into.
Why it works
Our cohorts are small and live, not pre-recorded. Students learn alongside peers who are equally curious, guided by instructors who treat teenagers as capable of serious work, because they are. The goal is never a certificate for its own sake. It is the same thing Devesh looked for in every standout application: independent thinking, real projects, and the confidence to back both.
Where we are headed
Futurowise is growing every month, but the founding belief has not changed since the first scholarship folder Devesh opened years ago. The students who go furthest are the ones who learn to build things nobody assigned them. Our job is to give more students that chance, earlier.
